Meditation is often described as a practice of calm, clarity, or inner peace. But many people discover something different when they sit quietly: restlessness, sadness, irritation, numbness, anxiety, grief, or a sudden rush of emotion. This is not necessarily a sign that meditation is “going wrong.” Often, it is a sign that you are beginning to notice experiences that were already present beneath the noise and momentum of daily life.
