Summer Solstice Yoga and Swimming at Bass Lake
Come celebrate summer solstice with me and a small group of fun-loving nature enthusiasts! Hike along a moderately strenuous trail to Bass Lake in Point Reyes National Seashore. There are beautiful views of the coast, rolling green hills, and canopies of eucalyptus and redwood. After a little swim, in the lake to cool off we will share a yoga class celebrating the spirit of summer.
Where to meet:
We will begin from the Palomarin Trailhead and head northwest on the Coast Trail at 1:15pm. Plan to arrive early since parking can be hard to find.
The hike:
This is a 6 miles (9.6 km) roundtrip, moderate hike. The trail itself is wide and well-maintained. There is a ton of poison oak but it was easily avoided due to the width of the trail. Bass Lake is a popular, but unofficial, swimming spot; accessing the lakeside can be challenging. There are no lifeguards—swim at your own risk. There are no toilets at Bass Lake; be sure to use the vault toilets at the Palomarin Trailhead before starting your hike. Please practice Leave No Trace principles. No dogs (park rule). Leader keeps a pace a bit on the slow side of moderate.

In the event of bad weather or less than 6 participants, event leaders will cancel and issue a full refund. Cancellations by participants with a minimum of 48-hours notice will be issued a full refund. No refunds for cancellations with less than 48 hr notice or no-shows.
